John 1:24 – And they that were sent were of the Pharisees.
Thought: John introduces us to another sect of Jewish religious leaders. They taught others to follow the Law of Moses strictly. However, they did not always keep the Law themselves. They made great displays of their religious practices. And, they did not like others “stealing the show.” When John came upon the scene, he was very popular. Immediately, the Pharisees sent out a team to investigate. “Who are you?” They asked. It is dangerous when the presence of another causes us to be threatened.
