John 19:2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple roble.

Thought: It was sad to see the Jews reject their King. It is even sadder to see the Roman soldiers mock King Jesus. Instead of a royal crown of gold or victory, the soldiers put a crown of thorns on his brow. The large thorns would have torn into His flesh and blood would have flowed onto his face. Too, they put a purple robe on Him. Purple was the symbol of royalty. The robe according to Luke was a gorgeous robe. It was intended to make fun of our Lord. Ignorance does foolish things.

Luke 23:11
