JAMES 2:15

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food.

 

1.    Brother

A.   Strong (80):  a brother

B.    Thayer:  a brother, whether born of the same two parents or only of the same father or mother…a fellow believer, united to one another by the bond of affection…brethren in Christ, his brothers by blood

C.   Vine:  a brother, all believers

 

2.    Sister

A.   Strong (79):  a sister (natural or ecclesiastical)

B.    Thayer:  a full, own sister, one connected by the tie of the Christian religion

C.   Vine:  sister, of spiritual kinship with Christ, an affinity marked by the fulfillment of the will of the Father

 

3.    Naked

A.   Strong (1131):  nude

B.    Thayer:  properly, unclad, without clothing, the naked body, ill clad, clad in undergarments only

C.   Vine:  unclothed

 

4.    Destitute

A.   Strong (3007):  to leave, that is, …to fail or be absent

B.    Thayer:  to leave…to be destitute, to lack, to be wanting

C.   Vine:  to leave…to be left, forsaken, destitute…”be in lack”

 

5.    Daily

A.   Strong (2184):  for a day

B.    Thayer:  lasting for a day, daily

C.   Vine:  for the day

 

6.    Food

A.   Strong (5160):  nourishment…rations  :- food, meat

B.    Thayer:  food, nourishment

C.   Vine:  nourishment, food
