ISLAM: A POLITICAL SYSTEM TOO
Victor M. Eskew
The Constitution of the U.S. grants us the freedom to practice any religion in the United States. The opening words of the First Amendment read: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” Many religions can be found within our nation: Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, and many, many more.
Recently, there have been heated debates about the “religion” of Islam. It has even been suggested by one political candidate that Muslims who are not citizens of our nation should be forbidden entrance into the U.S. for a period of time. Some agree. Some do not. Those who do not want Muslims to be forbidden from coming into our nation remind us that we are a nation that allows the freedom of religion.
This writer wants individuals to understand that Islam is more than a religion. It is also a political system. If Islam has its way in the United States, the Constitution will be cast out and Sharia Law will be the law of the land. Sharia Law is the law that governs every aspect of Islam, including government.
At the website, Islamicweb.com, we read: “Islam is a complete way of life. It impacts every part of life, from eating and sleeping to working and playing. It is not only a personal religion, but also a social one.” Notice two statements: “every part of life” and “a social one.” Most of the countries wherein Islam is in control of the government are fascist. In essence, they have a dictator who is in charge of the country. These leaders keep their power and control the masses through violent means, means authorized in Shari’a Law.
Sharia Law is the law that governs Isalm. The term “sharia” means “way” or “path.” Sharia Law was created from several sources: the Qur’an, the Haddith, The Sunna, and Islamic jurisprudence. This law is deemed as the supreme law because it involves sources that are divine and not of human origin.
A nation based upon Sharia would have a caliph as the leader of the nation. The caliph would have a Shura, a counsel of people who advise him. In addition, a group of ulema, “guardians of the law,” would operate as a check and balance to the caliph. Sharia would be enforced upon all the inhabitants of the land. Islamic courts would exist and judges would oversee the sessions.
Strict adherence to Sharia is expected of all citizens. The Qur’an states: “O believers! Obey God and obey the Apostle and those who have been given authority [uulaa al-amr] among you” (Qur'an 4:59). The only reason for disobedience is if a leader orders something contrary to divine law.
Sharia law is spread in many ways. First, it is spread through military methods. This is what is being seen in many parts of our world today. Various factions of Islam are trying to establish a Caliphate, that is, a political state in the world. Ultimately, it is believed that this Caliphate is supposed to rule the world. When the leaders of the Caliphate conquer a nation, they establish Sharia law in the place of previous law.
Second, Sharia can be spread by a method known as “creeping Sharia.” Creeping Sharia has several tentacles. Individuals Muslims within a society make demands on the society in which they live so they can practice their “religion.” They want prayer rooms. They want time off to pray. They want their meals prepared a certain way. They refuse to carry out certain parts of their job responsibilities. Each time they are successful in their efforts, Sharia law has been implemented in a society.
Third, Muslim districts have been established. Within these districts, Sharia law is practiced. The men engage in polygamy. They marry girls under the age of 18. They enforce Sharia dress codes. Women are treated according to the standards of Sharia law also. Since they are isolated, no one worries about their Sharia practices.
Fourth, Sharia seeks to be implemented through the political process. Muslims run for office. Individuals lobby our political leaders. The goal of the Muslims involved in politics is the establishment of Sharia.
Once Islam is in power, individuals find out how harsh and evil this “religion” really is. They find out that Sharia law is a cruel, demanding law. The following are some of the practices of the Islamic political/religious system.
1. Islam allows husbands to hit their wives even if the husbands merely fear highhandedness (Qur’an 4:34).
2. Islam allows an injured plaintiff to exact legal revenge—physical eye for physical eye (Qur’an 5:45).
3. Islam commands that homosexuals must be executed (Mishkat, vol. 1, p. 765, Prescribed Punishments).
4. Islam orders unmarried fornicators to be whipped and adulterers to be stoned to death (Qur’an 24:2)
5. Islam orders death for Muslim and possible death for non-Muslim critics of Muhammad and the Quran and even sharia itself (Qur’an 33:59-61).
6. Islam orders apostates to be killed (Bukhari, Apostates, no. 6922).
7. Islam commands offensive and aggressive and unjust jihad (Qur’an 9:1-5).
These are a few of the harsh laws of the Islam. There are others that could be revealed that show Islam’s desire to control all elements of a person’s life. Is this the rule of law that we really desire to control our nation?
It is essential for us to understand what we tolerate now could control us in the future. Rest assured that Muslims are serious about their religion. They want it spread throughout the world. In Qur’an 9:33, we read: “It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth, to make it superior over all religions, though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) hate (it)” (Hilali and Khan, The Noble Qur’an, Riyadh: Darussalam, 1996, 2002; parenthetical notes are theirs) (www.answering-islam.org).
